Ministry Catalyst
Ministry Advancement Division

Position Summary:

The Ministry Catalyst will work with the Director of Ministry Advancement and the Director of Corporate Communications to serve as a network- and community-builder, as well as a key liaison and resource for individuals, congregations, and Int’l LLL leaders motivated to reach the lost through LHM’s array of outreach and ministry programs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Plan a catalyst strategy to assist congregations in reaching the lost, building upon the success of ministry work of Lutheran Hour Ministries (LHM) and its volunteers.
  • Provide informational, educational, and interpretive presentations about LHM and its programs to congregations, groups, conferences, and other gatherings.
  • Serve as a point of contact for and liaison with seminaries, universities, and schools of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, as well as donors and prayer partners.
  • Provide direction and oversight for the Ambassador Manager, Ambassador volunteer program, and potential new LHM volunteer programs.
  • Develop appropriate ministry-support outreach and education resources.
  • Assist in the development of strategies for donor and volunteer activation.
  • Coordinate catalyst activities with staff in other LHM divisions.

Qualifications include:

  • Ordained or commissioned professional church worker on the LCMS roster.
  • Five years’ work experience in congregational services, church relations, or a related field.  (Seven or more years, preferred)
  • Demonstrated skill in communication, both oral and written, including public speaking and presentations.  Good interpersonal skills.
  • Significant experience in developing and implementing strategic plans.
  • Demonstrated skill in developing support for outreach ministry.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.  Ability to travel extensively.
  • Commitment to Lutheran Hour Ministries focus and strategic plan.
  • In-depth understanding of the heritage and work of LHM is a real plus.

Communications Manager
Ministry Advancement Division

Position Summary:

This experienced communications professional is responsible for developing and maintaining an organization-wide newsgathering and dissemination program, assisting in the creative development and production of direct mail appeals, and building and maintaining a comprehensive media list of all internal and external audiences, to help spread the key messages of our ministry to the right audiences.  The position reports to the Director of Corporate Communication and Donor Relations.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, or communications with at least five years of professional experience in one of these areas.
  • Creative and strategic thinker with the ability to put plans into action to achieve specific results through powerful presentations, marketing messages and communication materials without excessive management oversight.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with particular strengths in newsletter creation/distribution, public relations, and speech writing.
  • Demonstrated understanding of communication media applications and technology including Quark Xpress, content management software, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other departments, volunteers, and communications staff.
  • Working knowledge of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod is a plus.

Response Center Representative
United States Ministries Division
(Part time - up to 19 hours per week)

Position Summary:

This position receives inquiries from respondents and customers, provides encouragement through the Word and prayer as applicable, directs and services individuals constituting non-qualified referral respondents as appropriate, qualifies potential referral candidates connecting them with appropriate resources and Church contacts, and executes follow-up strategies as directed.

Qualifications include:

  • Excellent customer service skills and commitment to providing world-class service.

Support Specialist
International Ministries Division

Position Summary:

The Support Specialist will provide various support services to managers and area counselors in the International Ministries Division; and will coordinate with international ministry centers in the areas of gifts and subsidies.

Primary Responsibilities include:

Working with ministry centers to record statistical data and subsidy payments; coordinating gift processes for international gifts; processing Reaching OutT requests and Benefactor reports; and serving as part-time secretary to two resident Area Counselors and to the Latin America Area Counselor.

Qualifications include:

  • Computer proficiency in MS Office
  • 5+ years Administrative/Executive level experience
  • Excellent grammar and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with various departments and international offices with a joyful servant's heart
