Lutheran Hour Ministries
Walt Winters serves as director of International
Ministries, a position he has held since May 1995. Previously,
Winters was assistant director of the department from
1990-1995.
In his current position, Winters oversees the International Ministries department in St. Louis, Mo., as well as 41 ministry centers worldwide, supervises fundraising efforts for overseas department expansion, and provides congregation referrals to those seeking spiritual guidance.
Prior to joining Lutheran Hour Ministries, Winters served as Philippine missionary
counselor for the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod
(LCMS) and district secretary and member of the District
Board of Directors. He was director of the Philippine
LHM ministry center; chairman of the Board of Concordia
Children's Services; vice-chairman of the Board of Christian
Language Study Center; and chairman of the Association
of Mission Administrators. He also worked as a field
missionary and church planter.
Winters earned a master's degree in arts and theology from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Mo., and a bachelor's degree from Concordia Senior College in Fort Wayne, Ind. He received an honorary doctor of laws degree in May 2000 from Concordia University in Seward, Neb. He is chairman of the Evangelism Board at his home church.
